Japan is one of the biggest countries in the world in regards to cryptocurrency trading and adoption. Many government agencies are pro cryptocurrency in Japan.
In a recent document released by a study group from Tama University of Japan, guidelines to fully legalize initial coin offers was proposed. Some of the emphasized points of this guideline are investor protection, anti-money laundering and know your customer procedures.
Initial coin offerings have become a major part of the cryptocurrency industry with new projects starting their own ICO every single day. Investing in ICOs has gained a lot of popularity among investors, but unfortunately, several countries including the United States of America and China have banned investors from participating in ICOs.
If a country like Japan who is a forefront in the cryptocurrency industry decided to officially release guidelines for ICOs and by doing so legalizing them, other countries might be encouraged to follow suit or at least reconsider their current policy.
