Tron (TRX) Mainnet Goes Live After Months Of Anticipating

Tron (TRX) has been an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain since it was introduced to the market last year. It has however always been the team’s intention that Tron would be on its own blockchain, and that is happening today.

Tron can finally truly call itself its own cryptocurrency as it no longer depends on the Ethereum network. Tron (TRX) will now run on its own blockchain, which can be explored using their own explorer, https://tronscan.org.

The mainnet launch was scheduled for today and was finally announced by Justin Sun on Twitter earlier today, followed by a livestream.

If you have any Tron (TRX) on an exchange like Binance, they will automatically swap your ERC20 Tron tokens to Tron tokens on the Tron blockchain at a rate of 1:1. If you have Tron on your own wallet, you have to do the token swap yourself.

The Tron mainnet is still in beta as to test for any potential bugs or unseen events. The Tron foundation has even released a bug-bounty program that offers up to $100k to people who find bugs on the mainnet. The reward is dependant on the severity of the bug.
